Creating this book has forced me to look at books in a whole new way. Never before had I noticed how carefully everything in each and everybook is thought out and organized. There is just so much to think about when designing an entire book in order to make it look clean and cohesive throughout. Some of the questions I started asking myself included:
Should I put page numbers on all the pages?
How do I organize my table of contents?
WHAT IS A COLOPHON?
I ended up going online and to the library and looking through many other publications to get ideas for my own.
Because I used large, bold type for my page numbers, I decided to only put numbers on the pages that began a new section of the book, as not to overwhelm the designs on the other pages. This decision made the table of contents easier, because then I only put the pages that had page numbers on them in the table of contents, rather than including every exercise. I looked at many colophons and decided to make mine clean, short and simple, so that it would go with my table of contents and explanations for the exercises.
