Before I even became a graphic design major and started noticing typography all the time, my eye was always drawn to type when used to create shape. Whether by the type itself or the white space, type as shape is a very versatile and eye catching technique. For my poster for the final project, I experimented a bit with type as shape, not a specific shape but abstract form, that related to other forms that existed within my book and on the cover:
